Why choose the black post
Very nearly any room will take it without argument, which is why this is the neutral choice for concerts, back-of-house, film sets and most corporate work. The post steps back, the line simply exists, and nobody ends up looking at it.
A matte surface absorbs fingerprints and handling marks in a way no polished one can, and that tells on a multi-day build where the same posts move several times a day. Under a lens it throws back no highlights either.
With a four-way top, every post can act as corner, end or junction, so one count covers every position in the layout. The belt is black on both posts and the lane stays readable from right across a floor.
